Children’s Global Network – Pakistan has pioneered an innovative social entrepreneurship model for early years’ service delivery which is scalable, replicable and sustainable. The model ‘Parwaan Preschool-A School readiness program” engages youth in entrepreneurial and pedagogical skills for provision of quality and affordable early childhood development (ECD) opportunities for children of age 3-5 years across 15 districts of Pakistan. The aim is to universalize early years’ education in Pakistan. Parwaan envisions to set up 0.5 million ECD centers across Pakistan to ensure that by 2030 all girls and boys should have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education.
The model includes a 5-weeks comprehensive training programme, one-year Parwaan ECD course based on National ECE Curriculum and a school readiness kit for setting up the ECD center. Parwaan entrepreneurs are also linked with microfinance institutions for acquiring soft loans. The children attending Parwaan preschools have demonstrated significant improvement in their learning outcomes – 78% increase in emergent literacy and 81% improvement in their math scores. The model has benefited more than 1500 bottom of pyramid children and enabled the entrepreneurs to earn Rs.590 ($6) per child per month on average at their ECD centers. Each center has the capacity to cater to 25 children. Through market research – CGN-P is targeting potential customers including individual entrepreneurs, low-cost private schools and investors for franchising Parwaan Preschool model across the country.
